Voter ID registration for 2026 is now open online through the National Voters’ Services Portal (NVSP) for Indian citizens aged 18 years or above.
New voter ID registration and other voter services like name search, correction, and complaints can be completed online on the NVSP portal. No application fee is required, and applicants only need a photograph, identity proof, and address proof.

Eligibility Criteria
- Voter ID Card Must be an Indian citizen, aged 18 years or above, and have a permanent address
How to Apply
- Go to the official National Voters' Services Portal (NVSP) website.
- On the homepage, locate and click the 'Sign-Up' button at the top right corner.
- Provide your mobile number, email address, and the captcha code, then click 'Continue'.
- Fill in your 'First Name', 'Last Name', set a 'Password', confirm it, and press 'Request OTP'.
- Enter the OTP received on your mobile number and email, then click 'Verify'.
- After verification, click on 'Login'. Enter your mobile number, password, captcha code, and then click 'Request OTP'.
- Input the OTP sent to your mobile device and click the 'Verify & Login' button.
- Once logged in, select the 'Fill Form 6' option under the 'New registration for general electors' section.
- Complete Form 6 by entering your personal information, details of relatives, contact information, Aadhaar number, date of birth, address, and a declaration. Upload all necessary documents in the designated sections, then click 'Preview and Submit'.
- Review all the entered information carefully. If everything is correct, click on 'Submit'.

The Voter ID, officially called the Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC), is issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to eligible Indian citizens to verify voter identity and prevent electoral fraud.
